PURPOSE:To obtain a printing head excellent in low noise, by dividing the driving timing of wires into three or more phases and arranging wire rows in matching relation to the number of the phases to reduce the number of simultaneously driven wires. CONSTITUTION:The arrangement of wires consists of wire rows A, D each having four wires and wire rows B, C each having eight wires. The wire rows D, C and A, B are set to nP/3 in a pitch and the pitch of the wire rows B, C is nP (n: integer). In this case, since the intervals of the wire rows are divided into three with respect to dot pitches, the timing for driving the wires is divided into three phases. When the wire row D reaches printing timing, only the wire row D is operated so that four wires are driven at the max. to perform printing. When the wire rows B, C reach the printing timing, 16 wires are also driven at the max. and, when the wire row A is at the printing timing position, four wires are also driven at the max. By three-phase division, the max. number of the wires driven simultaneously are reduced and printing noise can be lowered. |
