PURPOSE:To contrive to prevent the burning of the superconducting coil by a method wherein at the quanching time of the coil, a unidirectional vibration is generated by the inductance of the coil and equivalent capacity of a DC rotary machine, and a part of magnetic energy in the coil is utilized as rotating energy of the rotary machine. CONSTITUTION:The protective device to be connected between the both ends of the coil 1 is constituted of, for example, a series connection of a unidirectional current flowing device 6 like diode, etc., and the DC rotary machine 5. In this constitution, the device 6 is set in the direction as to make a current to flow continuously till it is attenuated completely to zero in a circuit constituted of the coil 1, the rotary machine 5 and the device 6 although a current switch 2 is turned OFF at the quenching time of the coil 1. When the coil 1 is quenched, because the switch 2 turned OFF, the current flowing in the coil 1 is reduced, a terminal voltage e is generated in the opposite direction to the direction in the normal running state, and the coil current flows continuously in the rotary machine 5 through the device 6. |
