<p>The appts. includes at least one dialysate reservoir connected by a semi-rigid injection pipe, and a return pipe, to a patient. In the injection pipe are filters; a peristaltic pump; an appts. for removing air bubbles; and a zone of the pipe which is wound into a helical coil and inserted in a tank. The tank has an air inlet and outlet; and the air inlet contains a fan and an electric resistance heater element. On the outlet end of the pipe coil is a temp. sensor, which is connected to an electronic comparator circuit. The circuit adjusts the electric current fed to the element so the dialysate can be heated to, and kept at, an accurate temp. For example, using a coil contg. 12-20 metres of tube, and a 1.2 kW heater element, the dialysate can be heated to 37 deg.C in 15 seconds and kept at 36.5-37.5 deg.C.</p> |
