The metering device for seed and fertilizer has cylindrical metering elements which are driven by a control gearbox between side walls. There are axial interspaces between the metering elements and the side walls. The interspaces (8) can be covered inwardly by means of overlapping sleeves (10) and rings (9). The sleeves may be fitted to the metering elements (4), and the rings (9) to the side walls (3), these rings being rotatable. The covers may be in the form of flexible elements. (DS).
