The light has a transparent cover (21), a reflector (23) with a recess for a lamp (28) to pass through, and a base holder for the lamp (28). In order to obtain a considerably greater light output with the same supply of energy and overall size or the same degree of light output with a considerably reduced supply of energy and overall size as well as a considerably reduced use of material, the lamp is a halogen lamp (28 and 28') whose glass bodies (31 and 31') have approximately the same diameter as their base (27 and 27'), and the recess (32) in the reflector (23 and 22) is approximately the same size as the diameter of the base of the lamp. <IMAGE>
