<p>PURPOSE:To obtain an effective and economical gas seal between zones of preheating, desorption, cooling, etc., by controlling the flow rate of exhaust gas in such a way that the pressures at the inlet and outlet of each zone are equalized in a rotary cylinder type dry desulfurizer. CONSTITUTION:An exhaust gas to be desulfurized enters an inlet 10 and goes out through the packed layer of a rotary cage 1, where most of sulfur oxides are adsorbed and the exhaust gas is discharged from an outlet 11. Since the adsorptive performance of the adsorbent of an adsorption zone (a) is gradually reduced, the cage 1 is repeatedly turned in such a way that the adsorbent is trasferred in the order of preheating zone, desorption zone, and cooling zone (b) to (d), where differences in pressures are generated between the adjacent zones due to differences in the flow rate, temperature, and composition of gas between the zones, whereby causing the gas to be mixed. Even when the pressure at the inlet of the zone (a) of the gas to be treated, as shown by double arrow, is made constant, the pressure at the outlet is changed. Thus, a difference in pressure between zones (b) and (a) is detected, regulating valves 33 and 34 are automatically adjusted, the pressures of the confluent point between the outgoing gas of the zone (b) and (a) by- pass pipe is changed, and the pressure differene from the outgoing gas of the zone (z) is made to approach to zero. Thus, the flow of gas between the zones (a) and (b) is interrupted. Even between the other zones, the same operation is conducted.</p> |
