PURPOSE:A superconductor consisting of a crystal phase of K2NiF4 structure and a Y-Ba-O crystal phase contg. a small amt. of Cu, exhibiting superconductivity at above the b.p. of liquid N2 and having high strength. CONSTITUTION:After molding a mixture of powdery Y oxide (e.g. Y2O3), Ba compd. (e.g. BaCO3), and Cu oxide (e.g. CuO), the molded product is sintered at 950-1,200 deg.C in oxidizing atmosphere to prepare a sintered body consisting of Y, Ba, Cu, and O. The Y-Ba-Cu component constituting a major part of the sintered body consists of 10<=Y<=60atom.%, 20<=Ba<=50atom.%, and 30<=Cu<=65atom.%. At the same time the superconductor is constituted of a crystal phase 1 having K2NiF4 (layered perovskite) structure and a Y-Ba-O crystal phase 2 contg. a small amt. of Cu. |
