The relays and similar components, such as capacitors, coils etc. are encapsulated for protection and prevention of duct and moisture penetration. Such encapsulating housings may have a cover plate, through which protrude plug pins, contact strips etc. A sealing substance is used for tightly packing such apertures and gaps. On the cover plate is inserted a second cover plate and so pressed down that the sealing substance, sandwiched between the two plates, penetrates into apertures, gaps etc. to be sealed. Pref. the plate facing sides are coated with a component of a two-component sealing substance. The application of such sealing substances may take place in a pattern corresp. to the arrangement of pins, gaps and apertures, at least on one surface of the two facing plates. Screen printing techniques may be used for the pattern application.
