The slot (2) for a magnifying objective (1) is intended for laterally inserting a light or colour sensor, a filter or other optically active element (4). The slot is arranged in an air gap between two lenses, which does not contain the aperture plane and permits positioning the active elements at different levels along the optical axis. This level difference may be up to 1/10 of the overall focal length of the objective. The insertable slide (3) may carry the element outside its median plane, whilst being reversible to position the element at two possible levels. The colour sensor may be adjustable in a plane at right angles to the optical axis for localised measurement.
