Separator for separating coarse, fine and extremely fine dust particles from air has a dirty air inlet pipe entering the conical cyclone vessel, tangentially, a bottom discharge for the coarser particles, and a central, coaxial riser pipe for the air leaving the cyclone; the air is extracted here by a coaxial fan rotor and receives an injection of water from a feed pipe coming from a settling tank. This water is broken up into fine droplets and centrifuged by the rotor onto the inner wall face of a cylindrical vessel, having a closed top, which coaxially surrounds the cyclone; the air flows down through this cylindrical vessel, leaves at the bottom and passes up into a filter space surrounding the cylindrical vessel and contained within a perforated wall. The air leaves this filter space through this perforated wall and pref. passes to a second filter space coaxially surrounding the first and containing finer filtering material, this in turn being contained within a second perforated cylindrical wall. Both these filter spaces are closed at the top. The fan rotor comprises a horizontal plate with blades below it for centrifuging the air and blades above it for centrifuging the water droplets. Below the chambers there is a water collecting tray to receive the descending wash of dusty water and discharge it back into the settling tank. The initial separation of coarse particles from the air is by a dry process in the cyclone, so that an excessive amount of water is not required.
|
