PURPOSE:To improve abrasion resistance, traveling characteristic, chemical resistance and durability by containing a higher fatty acid ester consisting of specific monobasic higher fatty acid and specific univalent alcohol, a specific higher fatty acid and lecitin in a magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic recording medium made by coating the magnetic coating contg. 0.1-5.0pts.wt. each of a higher fatty acid ester consisting of monobasic higher fatty acid acid of C numbers 18-22 and univalent alcohol of C numbers 2-5, a higher fatty acid of C numbers 12-18 and lecitin based on 100pts.wt. of magnetic powder and contg. 10-40pts.wt. a thermosetting type binder (polyurethane, epoxy resin, etc.) and other necessary components such as hardeners on a substrate followed by drying is made. This process yields the magnetic recording medium which has high adhesiveness to the substrate, has no sticking of powder on magnetic heads and the like under high humidity, has superior solvent resistance, traveling characteristic, electromagnetic conversion characteristics, durability, etc., and is suited for video tapes, magnetic discs, etc. |
