PURPOSE:To obtain the titled novel compound useful as an intermediate for a medical high polymeric material having the compatibility with blood and antiagglutinating property, by reacting heparin with a glycidyl (meth)acrylate in the presence of a radical polymerization inhibitor in an aqueous solvent. CONSTITUTION:(B) A glycidyl (meth)acrylate is added to (A) an aqueous solution containing heparin sodium dissolved in pure water in the presence of a radical polymerization inhibitor, e.g. p-methoxyphenol, at 30-60 deg.C preferably with stirring. After the reaction, the reaction solution is concentrated in a rotary evaporator, etc. and introduced into a methanol, etc. with stirring to give the aimed substance which is a white powdery precipitate. The concentration of the component (B) in the aqueous solvent is preferably 2-30wt%. The resultant compound is then copolymerized with acrylonitrile and methyl acrylate, etc. to afford an antithrombotic polymer. |
