The blanking cct. (10) includes a filter(32) which attenuates signals in the selected information passband of the receiver, and a sampling passband is chosen which contains the same noise signals that are found in the information passband. The filter is coupled to the portion of the receiver which receives radio signals prior to the circuitry which selects the information passband of frequencies. The signals passed by the filter are processed to generate blanking signals in response to the filtered signals.
