PURPOSE:To lower the starting voltage and the discharge maintaining voltage of a discharge lamp by forming the electrode composed of the discharge lamp with a sintered electrode, a heat responsive element and a hollow electrode arranged near the sintered electrode and promoting ionization near a negative glow. CONSTITUTION:Attaching through a coil-like bimetal 3 a hollow electrode 4 of plate-form or the like on the tip of a lead wire 2 arranged projectively on the mount 1 of a lamp tube 8, and attaching a sintered electrode 6 on the lead wire 2 through an auxiliary lead 5, these both electrodes 4, 6 are arranged closely. Then, as the hollow electrode 4 is near the sintered electrode 6, the hollow electrode 4 promotes ionization near a negative glow, and forces discharge to the sintered electrode 6 to concentrate, and when the discharge becomes stable and a temperature rises, the bimetal 3 shrinks, and acts to separate the hollow electrode 4 from the sintered electrode 6. Therefore can be applied to a low voltage vapor discharge lamp because of its function to lower a starting voltage and a discharge maintaining voltage. |
