NEW MATERIAL:A condurango extract that is soluble in lower alcohols and chlorinated hydrocarbons other than carbon tetrachloride, insoluble in aliphatic hydrocarbons, carbon tetrachloride and aromatic hydrocarbons and composed mainly of peaks corresponding to Fr-2-1 fraction shown in the figure among peaks developing when the extract is subjected to high-speed liquid chromatography with a normal- phase column and eluted with a 6:1:6 mixture (in volume) of n-hexane, chloroform and methanol. Description: white powder, bitter tasting; color reaction: positive to Keller-Kiliani reaction (greenish brown), positive to Liebermann-Buchard reaction (bluish green). The extract is thought to mainly contains steroid glycosides having 2,6-deoxy saccharides. USE:Antitumorigenic agent. PREPARATION:Condurango in Ascelepiadaceae is extracted to give the objective extract. |
