<p>NEW MATERIAL:3-Allyl-5-hydroxytetrahydrofuran-2-ones shown by the formula I (R1 and R2 are H or 1-4C alkyl). EXAMPLE:(3R)-3-Allyl-3-ethyl-5-hydroxytetrahydrofuran-2-one. USE:A raw material for a nontryptamine part of the precursor of an indolealkaloid (hypotensive, cerebrovasculor vasodilator, antitumor agent). The raw material is industrially advantageous. PROCESS:A novel 3-allyl-5-hydroxymethyltetrahydrofuran-2-one shown by the formula II (R3 is OH-protecting group) is acidified, to give a compound shown by the formula III, which is treated with an alkali to give an ion derivative shown by the formula IV wherein the nuclear acid of a tetrahydrofuran ring is in the form of being hydrolyzed. CO2 is introduced to the solution so that its pH is adjusted to about 9 and the derivative is oxidized with periodic acid, etc., to give a compound shown by the formula I.</p> |
