The machine continuously extracts earth, metal ore etc., having a rotary excavation tool with cutters movable in the excavation direction and comprising a drum open at one side. A conveyor belt extends inside the drum, where there is a fixed scraper above the belt. The tool incorporates a second disc-shaped component (1), whose axis of rotation is at an obtuse angle (alpha) to that of the drum (3), and which partly shuts off the open side of the latter.
