A detergent and cleaner composition with improved anti-greying and anti-ash actions and based on detergent compounds and phosphate builder salts is described. The composition contains 1-10 % by weight of a calcium complex-forming compound from the group of organic phosphonic acids and substituted polyacrylic acids with a pKCa<++> of 5-9.5 and their sodium, potassium or ammonium salts. The composition likewise contains 0.05-10 % of a protective colloid from the group comprising polyvinylpyrrolidones, alkylpolyvinylpyrrolidones, polyvinylpyrrolidone/vinyl acetate copolymers, casein, caseinate and gelatin.
