PURPOSE:To obtain a methanol reformation catalyst having high activity at low temperatures and long service life, by adding a metallic catalyst component to a carrier covered with zirconia in advance. CONSTITUTION:A base metal, such as copper, zinc, or nickel, or its oxide is added to a carrier of alumina covered with zirconia in advance as a catalyst for reforming methanol into a gas containing hydrogen and carbon monoxide. The catalyst thus obtained exhibits high activity at a comparatively low temperature of 300 deg.C, and high catalytic activity such a high temperature of 800 deg.C, undergoing only low deterioration. |
