摘要 PURPOSE:To transfer electric charges by snaking a high-concentration channel stopper whose conductivity type is the same as a substrate along one of gate electrodes of upper or lower layers which are arranged crisscross on the substrate, and providing a light receiving part without using transparent electrode. CONSTITUTION:When light receiving parts (b) are illuminated from the side of electrodes 11... and 12... electrode are generated at the light receiving parts (b) in response to the amount of incident light. When counting pulse phi1 is kept at a high voltage and phi2 is kept at a low voltage, the electrons are concentrated under the lower electrodes 11... to which the pulse phi1 is applied. When the voltage is changed, the electrons move to the position (c) at the lower electrodes 11 whose voltage is high along the side wall of the channel stopper 8 through the position (b) at the upper electrodes 12 whose voltage is high. In this way, the electrons are transferred along each channel 9 by phi1 and phi2, and taken out to the outside at the terminal ends as image information. Insulated upper and lower gate electrodes which are crossed to each other are provided. Since the channel stopper is snaked along one electrode to obtain the snaking channel, the integrating density is high, and the transfer efficiency can be improved. Since the part wherein an electrode is not provided is made to be the light receiving part, the pickup elements which are not based on the hue of the incident light can be obtained.
