PURPOSE:To provide an aq. acrylamide polymer soln. which is stable over a wide temperature range, containing a 2-mercaptobenzimidazole compd. and a phenolic antioxidant. CONSTITUTION:A 2-mercaptobenzimidazole compd. (A) of the formula (wherein R<1>-R<4> are each H, lower alkyl; X is H, an alkali metal, ammonium) is mixed with a phenolic antioxidant (B) [e.g. 2,2'-methylene bis(4-methyl-6-tert.-butyl phenol)] in such a proportion as to give a molar ratio of A/B of 0.1-20 to obtain a stabilizer. Then 0.01-20pts.wt. above stabilizer is added to 100pts.wt. (on a solid basis) eq. acrylamide polymer soln. contg. an acrylamide polymer having a MW of not less than 500,000 at a concn. of 0.0001-30wt%, to obtain an aq. acrylamide polymer soln. which is stable over a wide temp. range of from room temp. to 100 deg.C. |
