Tractive force alarm for fishing rod - uses line to separate weighted contact from bell battery contact

The device has a rectangular box of moulded plastics which is supported on a base which also supports an electric bell. The box contains a battery connected to the bell in series with a switch in the form of a stopper for a conical supporting hole in the box cover. The stopper is hollow and is closed by a thick wall supporting a metallic screw with a flat head contacting the battery circuit. The fishing line is looped and trapped by the stopper against the neck of the hole and the screw is adjusted to stop the bell ringing until the line is pulled. A lead hammer on the screw ensures contact withe battery.
