The base retains the stems of cut flowers and a block of soft cellular material accommodating the inserted stems, and covered by an envelope open at the bottom and of stronger material and with holes for the stems. The envelope (1) is first moulded in the form of an inverted dish, in rigid or semi-rigid plastics. The envelope itself is then used as a mould for a mass (5) of cellular material, whose face at the envelope opening is shaped to form a base. The heles (1a) formed in the envelope for the stem insertion can be covered by a very thin skin (1b) of material, easily pierced by the stem (7) on insertion.
|
