PURPOSE:To reduce the weight and the cost of a linear motor without varying the rotating characteristics of the motor having a movable coil and a stationary permanent magnet by reducing the quantity of magnetic flux intersecting the coil at the intermediate part of a running path as compared with those at both ends. CONSTITUTION:In a linear motor in which a stator 1 is formed of a plurality of yokes 2A, 2B and a permanent magnet 3 fixed thereto and a rotor 4 is formed of bobbin 5 on which an excitation coil 6 is wound, the width L2 of the central part 9 of the permanent magnet 3 is reduced then the widths L1 of both the ends 7, 8 in such a manner that the quantity of magnetic flux intersecting the excitation coil 6 is reduced as compared with that at the central part. A slit may be formed at the central part instead of reducing the width of the central part 9 of the permanent magnet 3. Since the quantity of the magnetic flux of the permanent magnet at the central part which does not affect the running characteristics can be thus reduced, the weight and the cost of the motor can be reduced. |
