Through contacting of bilaterally metallised foil - by producing flap through shearing action

A method of producing a through contact between the metal layers on both sides of a flexible insulating foil, e.g. in the mfr. of antenna plug connectors with integrated directional coupler, uses as the foil a thin (10-20 mu) film or FEP and 35 mu thick layers of copper. A flat for bending up above the foil plane is produced by keeping the boundaries of the flap free from metal, with the metal layers overlapping the free part on alternate sides. When a small punch is applied, the flap is produced by a shearing action. Such a method is suitable even for very closely spaced conductor tracks and for small structures. The metal-free contours fix the flat position without interference by any foil distortion.
