The self loading container lorry has the rear wheels in a support frame (5) hinged near the middle of the chassis, and sprung onto the chassis by a pneumatic damper (8) acting on an intermediate support frame (17). This intermediate frame is further linked to the rear wheel frame (5) by a ram (18) which effectively presses the rear wheels down while lifting the rear of the chassis. The load support platform (9) is hinged on the chassis at the rear (11) and is raised by a second ram (15). The combined effect of the two rams raises the load platform above the height of the cab so that the container can be lifted onto a high support, or stacked onto a lower container.
