PURPOSE:To retrieve character symbols efficiently by previously registering character symbols, high in frequency of use, on a specially designated sheet, etc. CONSTITUTION:When an optional character symbol is selected on registration plate 2 or conversion plate 3 previously registered on a specially designated sheet, etc., the coordinates of the character symbol are detected by plate coordinate detecting circuit 19 and then supplied to both ROM addressing circuit 18 and RAM addressing circuit 20. When a character, etc., are selected on plate 3, the coordinate signal is converted by latch-decoder 17 into an addressing signal according to the relation with a plate discrimination code signal to specify the address of ROM13, thereby outputting it from OR gate 15. When a character, etc., are selected on plate 2, circuit 20 generates an addressing signal and supplies it to RAM21, from which the corresponding code is read and outputted via gate 15. |
