The invention relates to the design engineering of accurate radio-electronic instruments, computer engineering and measuring equipment, special-purpose apparatuses and devices, namely to processes for manufacturing insulated wires, for example, glass insulated microwires. The process includes drawing of the wire from a metal melt, obtained by metal preform smelting with an electromagnetic field, placed into a glass tube, and reeling up of the obtained wire onto a coil. In the wire casting process it is continuously measured the section and length of the drawn wire. The obtained weight is converted into an equivalent electric signal, by which it is acted on the preform displacement speed, thus displacing it so that the metal melt weight and the casting regimes with the initial values may be observed during the entire wire casting process, irrespective of the drawn wire length.
