PURPOSE:To increase the electrolyte-holding ability, improve the electric resistance, and lengthen the life of a separator for a battery by preparing the separator from cellophanes and a film made of a given random copolymer. CONSTITUTION:A separator for a battery is formed by making cellophanes to closely adhere to a film made of a random copolymer of an olefin and either an acrylic system monomer or a methacrylic system monoer, for example, a random copolymer which is made from ethylene and 12wt% to the former ethylene of acrylic acid, and which has a melt index of 10g/10min and a specific gravity of 0.955g/cm<2>. For instance, a copolymer of ethylene and acrylic acid is put into a popper 8 and is heated and molten in an extruder 9, before the molten copolymer is formed into a film 13 of a given thickness, for example, of 15mum thickness. Following that, the film 13 is fed between cellophanes 12 and 12' that are sent from feeders 11 and 11', thereby a laminated sheet being made. Next, this prepared laminated sheet is pressed and cooled between a pressure roll 14 and a cooling roll 15 before the ends of the laminated sheet undergo trimming, thus a separator being manufactured by a extrusion laminate method. |
