PURPOSE:To obtain an antihypertensive agent having an enhanced effect of action, by using a prolylamino acid derivative and a diuretic agent as main constituents. CONSTITUTION:An antihypertensive agent prepared by using a prolylamino acid derivative of the formula (R is H, lower alkyl, etc.; R1 is H, R4CO-, R5S- or R6R7N- CX-; R2 is H or lower alkyl; R3 is H, lower alkyl, etc.; R4 is H, lower alkyl, phenyl, etc.; R5 is lower alkyl, phenyl, etc.; R6 is H or lower alkyl; R7 is lower alkyl, etc.; X is =O or =S), e.g. 1-(D-3-acetylthio-2-methylpropanoyl)-L-prolyl-L- phenylalanine, and a diuretic agent selected from hydrochlorothiazide, hydroflumethiazide, etc. as main constituents. The compound of the formula is known to have an antihypertensive action mainly caused by the inhibitory action on the angiotensin I converting enzyme, and the action is enhanced by the use of the diuretic agent together. The agent is usually administered orally. |
