PURPOSE:To obtain a cosmetic having a stable quality, by incorporating a mixed ester containing an organic acid residue other than straight chain ones among products prepared by reacting dipentaerythritol with a fatty acid having a specific number of carbon atoms and a dibasic acid having a specific number of carbon atoms invariably as a base in the cosmetic. CONSTITUTION:A mixed ester containing an organic acid residue other than straight chain ones among products prepared by reacting (A) dipentaerythritol with (B) a >=8C straight chain, branched, unsaturated or hydroxy fatty acid and (C) a >=12C straight chain and/or branched dibasic acid invariably as a base is incorporated in a cosmetic. The mixed ester consists of a substance expressed by formula I [X is alkylene group derived from the component (C); Y1 and Y2 are groups of formula II, R1,R2,R3,R4,R5,R6,R7,R8 and R9 are Hor acyl groups derived from the compon ent (B); n is 0-3] essentially and has improved properties as a base for the cosmetic as follows: Rich in affinity for and wetting property to the skin, chemically inert, and good compatibility with waxes. |
