PURPOSE:To accomplish charging uniformly and easily without depending on corona charging by contactually charging a photoreceptor having an insulation layer on the surface, exposing this and forming electrostatic latent images. CONSTITUTION:A photoreceptor 1 has an insulation layer 4 on its surface, and a charger 5 provided for the purpose of charging is in contact therewith. Also, a charger 18 is in contact after the exposure by a focusing type optical transmission body 16. The surface of the charger 5 and destaticizer 18 are covered with soft contact body 12 made of fur of nylon or the like, so that the pholoreceptor 1 is contactually charged without being damaged. Since these soft contactors 12 of nylon or the like have electric resistance, the charging is uniformly accomplished.
