PURPOSE:To maintain the performance of the developer etc. constant by providing a means of removing the residual developer on the surface of an image carrying body, a recovering vessel for the recovered redidual developer and a means of adding additives to the recovered developer. CONSTITUTION:After the toner image developed in a developing part on the surface of a photoreceptor 1 is transferred in a transferring part 5, said surface is cleaned with a cleaning blade 15, and the removed toner is again returned to the developing part through a discharge path 17. A polishing agent and further additives are supplied into the developer from a supply part 10 in order to polish the surface of the photoreceptor stuck with nitrogen oxide, silicon oxide, etc. Serium oxide having about 0.05-10mum grain sizes is good as the polishing agent to be added and colloidal silica such as ''Tullanox 500 '' having 7mmu average particle size, 225m<2>/g BET surface area, 1.76 refractive index and 8-10pH made by TALCO corp. is suitable as the additive. |
