PURPOSE:To efficiently change-over the connection between plural pieces of optical fibers at low losses by using telephoto optical systems for every optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:Inlet side optical fibers 1 consisting of plural pieces of optical fibers 11-14 and exit side optical fibers 2 consisting of plural pieces of optical fibers 21- 24 constitute a matrix optical switch with the optical path change-over device consisting of lenses 3, 4, 3', 4' and reflecting mirrors 5. With this matrix optical switch, the lenses 3, 4 and 3', 4' constitute respectively telephoto system which are arranged at cofocal positions and are so constituted that the end faces of the optical fibers 1, 2 are in an image-coupled relation with each other. Hence, when if the relecting mirrros at the points of intersection of an arbitrary one straight line parallel to an alternate long and short dash line 7 and the centerlines of the respective optical fibers are used, the corresponding fibers on two sides of the optical fiber 1 side are coupled to each other and therefore the matrix optical switch of a large change-over scale having no mode conversion is constituted. |
