PURPOSE:To perform printing having reduced deflection distortion and excellent in quality by a method wherein air resistance for printing ink drops is reduced and the Coulomb force is equalized by deflecting some of ink drops which are not used for printing. CONSTITUTION:In the titled device composed of an ink jet head 1, a charging electrode 2, a deflecting electrode 4, a gutter 5 and the like, a gutter 10 is provided other than a gutter 5 for collecting unelectrified and rectilinear ink drops 8 which are not used for printing in order to deflect a part of electrified ink drops 9 to the utmost. Thus, an air flow is formed around the track of the unelectrified rectilinear ink drops 8 and the track of the most deflected ink drops 9, reducing the air friction against the printing drops 7, while uniform the Coulomb's force which varies in accordance with the existence or nonexistence of the printing data, decreasing the printing distortion accuring from the existence or nonexistence of the same, thereby obtaining the printing of high quality. |
