An ultrasound system and a method for forming an ultrasound image are provided to control a base line and a pulse repetition frequency of Doppler spectrum automatically by analyzing the Doppler spectrum for each sample volume set in a B-mode image. A signal acquisition part(110) transmits an ultrasonic signal to a target, and acquires an image signal to form a B-mode image of the target by receiving an ultrasonic signal reflected from the target, and acquires a Doppler signal for a number of sample volume set in the B-mode image. A signal forming part(120) forms a B-mode image signal on the basis of the image signal, and forms a Doppler spectrum signal of each sample volume on the basis of the Doppler signal of each sample volume. A display part(130) displays the B-mode image on the basis of the B-mode image signal, and displays Doppler spectrum of each sample volume on the basis of the Doppler spectrum signal. A processor(150) acquires images of Doppler spectrum of each sample volume, and controls a pulse repetition frequency and a base line on the basis of the Doppler spectrum image of each sample volume.
