PURPOSE:To miniaturize a magnetic recording and reproducing device on the whole by using an ellipsoidal drum means for a rotary-head helical scanning system. CONSTITUTION:On rotating shaft 2, magnetic head 4 supported on elastic supporting means 3 made of a rotatable branch spring is pivoted to form ellipsoidal drum means 6 and channel-shaped coupling member 12 is fitted, centering on rotating shaft 2, with gap 9 between upper drum 7 and lower drum 8 to make drums 7 and 8 in one body. As rotating shaft 2 rotates to drive magnetic tape T, magnetic head 4, while holding constant the degree of the insertion of tip part 10 into gap 9 through elastic supporting means 3, rotates according to the ellipsoidal locus. Thus, the device can be miniaturized on the whole. |
