In order to allow height adjustment of a rucksack frame, the frame (1) is divided into an upper part and a lower part, which parts are connected to one another by telescopic tubes (6, 7) and a fixing device (14). A support strap (13) at the lower end of the lower part can thus be adjusted infinitely variably in a correct position for support against the spinal region. A considerable advantage consists in the fact that the adjustment of the strap plane simultaneously involves a corresponding adjustment of the overall height of the frame in such a way that the frame adjusted correctly for one user can also be carried freely by hand by the same user.
