PURPOSE:To provide the captioned printer which is constituted of a small number of parts of a printing head part and therefore, is compact-sized and light-weight by arranging so that a carrier holding a platen in a freely rotatable fashion may slide in the same direction as a carriage holding a printing lever. CONSTITUTION:Ropes 35, 36 are taken up by each drum 31, 32 and a carriage 1 and a carrier 16 scan at a prearranged speed. In addition, a platen 12 held by the carrier 16 moves together and at the same time, is continuously driven to turn by means of a platen axis 13. A carriage 1 for a printing head and a carrier 16 for a platen are set in such manner that while the platen 12 turns by 11M (M means the number of protrusions 14 of the platen 12), the said carriage and carrier move by pitch between the dots. When one line printing is completed, a carriage return signal is supplied to the plunger of a clutch gear 28, releasing the intermeshing of a clutch gear 27. As a result, the carriage 1 and carrier 16 are returned by the spring force of return springs 39, 40. |
