<p>This is an addn. to 79.12928, which is described a raft carrying a row of paddle wheels collecting oil floating on water. The novelty in the present invention is that the front of the raft is provided with an additional paddle wheel (I) of large dia. Below wheel (I) is a profiled grid with a sloping front zone and a rear, horizontal zone. Wheel (I) and the grid are used to collect solid objects floating on the oil and water so they do not interfere with the reclaiming operation. The wheel (I) and the grid are pref. located on a frame which extends to the rear end of the raft and carries a counterweight, which is the motor employed to drive the paddle wheels. To collect objects such as floating pieces of wood, bottles, or seaweed, so that these objects do not jam the paddle wheels etc and damage the raft.</p> |
