<p>A shoulder vast is made from a rectangular knitted panel by folding the edges of the ends together into short tubular profiles each held by one short stitched seam. The selvedge of the centre zones of the long edges, between the stitched zones, form the border of the collar. Simpler to make and smoother to wear than conventional garments made by joining short prefabricated sleeves to a specially shaped centre panel. Pref. the panel is knitted from material having natural elasticity, such as wool, or is made from yarns involving a rubber core interlaced with non-elastic threads such as polyamide or annealed PVC, e.g. a combination of a 78 dtex polyurethane thread overwrapped with a 44 dtex polyamide filament and two 34/1 threads of 'stabilised chlorofibre', so that the knitted panel has an elasticity of about 40%.</p> |
