A closed loop path through which a working fluid is circulated includes a prime mover, such as a turbine (16), to which operating fluid in the vapor state is supplied from an evaporation chamber (10) which is partially filled with operating liquid. A condenser (14) is located adjacent the bottom of the chamber (10). Working vapor discharged from the turbine (16) is passed through the condenser (14), the heat of vaporization passing from the vapor into the operating liquid within the chamber. From the condenser (14) liquid is pumped through heating means, such as a solar collector (26), for heating the liquid without vaporizing the same and the heated liquid is passed into the evaporation chamber (10) for vaporization. Heat absorbed by the evaporating operating liquid cools the liquid in the evaporation chamber. The cold operating liquid at the bottom of the chamber (10) facilitates removal of heat from the turbine exhaust. <IMAGE> |
