Safety switch for electrically operated equipment - incorporating switch handle in machine steering or guiding handle, with switch connected in motor circuit

The typical application of the safety device is to hand guided motor driven choppers or riddles. Attached to one of the guiding or operating handles (2) of the machine is a lever handle (16) with a spring return (8). This handle (16) engages with an electrical switch (10). Leads (11) from the switch go to an electrical interlock on the motor driving the machine. In order to operate the machine the lever handle must be depressed (18) towards the main handle (2). The normal action is to hold both handles at the same time in one hand. If an adjustment has to be made, or an obstruction cleared, then letting go of the main handle automatically trips the drive and the operation can be conducted in safety.
