The electromechanical counter includes a facility for preselection and setting of a specific numerical valve. The counter is split into two units; one that performs the normal counting function and another that incorporates a preselection unit. The main counter has a number of counter rollers that have associated gears coupled through intermediate gears. Input to the counter is from a solenoid that operates on a pivoted armature. A linkage with two claws operates as an escapement mechanism with a gear to cause the rollers to index. Preselection rollers have associated cogs that interact with a separate escapement mechanism. The actuation lever is pivoted and indexes the preselection rollers through one number each time the mechanical plunger is operated.
