Ceramic item mfg. process - adds agent retaining noxious gas before firing

The process manufactures ceramic items and/or those contg. carbon from an initial mixt. contg. cpds. which give off noxious gases on firing. An agent retaining the noxious commodity is added to the mixt. before firing. This can remain effective up to 1000 deg. C, and pref. is a metal powder or an organic or inorganic metal cpd., in a proportion up to 50% greater than the stoichiometric quantity. Evolution of the gases is prevented in a simple and relatively inexpensive method.
