Foam additives are mixed with a thermoplastic which becomes sticky when heated and the mixt heated and then extruded at a relatively fast rate through a relatively small extrusion orifice to form the film. Pref. 2-10 wt.% by wt of foam building additive can be used and the mixt can be gased prior to extrusion. The lining can be applied from the extruder directly onto the fabric to which it is to be bonded.
