The closure device is intended for use on a metal can which contains a beverage. It consists of flexible piece of plastics material which has a conically contoured lower portion. The conically contoured lower portion is specially shaped to fit in the pouring opening of the can after this is opened. This ensures that the fluid in the can may be poured out without spilling or splashing. The opening sealed by the closure may be tapered or keyhole shaped.
