<p>The vacuum cleaner has a cylindrical filter insert (5) arranged in a housing (1) with a sealed lid (2) incorporating the motor (3) and the fan (4). The filter insert (5) is rotatable within the housing (1) and is coupled to the motor (3) at the end of cleaning, so that the trapped dust particles are discharged by centrifugal force. Pref. a double-action coupling (23) is provided between the fan (4) and the filter insert (5) which can be adjusted from outside to allow the fan (4) or the filter insert (5) to be driven by the motor (3). The base of the filter insert (5) is supported from the bottom of the housing (1) via a rotary bearing (13) and pressed via an axial spring bias into contact with a sealing ring (18) incorporated in the lid (2). The axial adjustment of the coupling (22) is transmitted to the filter insert (5) so that it is free to rotate. The system prevents the filter insert (5) having to be removed for cleaning.</p> |
