PURPOSE:To decrease starting voltage of a lamp and simplify constitutions of its starter and facilities, by containing in a tube an adsorbing material that adsorbs starting rare gas at the time for the lamp not lighting and releases the adsorbed starting rare gas during the time the lamp is lighting. CONSTITUTION:A luminous tube 2 is housed in an outer tube 1. The luminous tube 2 is provided with main electrodes 3a, 3b at its both ends. In the outer tube 1 a pulse generating starter 4 is contained with a connection in parallel to the luminous tube 2. Constitution of said starter 4 is such that a normally-closed bimetal switch 5 and heater 6, for heating said bimetal switch 5, are connected in series. The luminous tube 2 is sealed in its inside with starting rare gas, consisting of at least one of the gases, argon, krypton and xenon. Further it contains an adsorbing material that adsorbs starting rare gas during the time a lamp is not lighted and releases its adsorbed starting rare gas at high temperature during the time the lamp is lighted. |
