The supporting system is intended for a drum of a rotary kiln drier, cooler etc., which may have its axis at an acute angle to the horizontal. It uses rotating rollers to support its periphery. The rollers can be supported by two load-bearing plates (7) instead of a single base plate. The plates are so arranged that their position can be adjusted to compensate for misalignment of the drum due to internal or external forces. Each plate can be connected by a vertical hinge (6) to an intermediate member (1). This is secured by a vertical bolt (5) to the ground, passing through a slot (4) at right angles to the drum axis, permitting sideways adjustment. Between one end of the intermediate member and an upper block (2), spanning the gap between itself and the load-bearing plate (7), are screws for this adjustment. An alternative system with hydraulically operated adjusting members can be used.
